Sporades - Skantzoura
Skandzoura is the southernmost island of the Maritime Park of the Sporades, with an area covering of 7,7 sq. km and a maximum altitude of 107 meters. It is 10 miles away from the “Steni Vala” of Alonissos island and at its west side there are many randomly-placed islets of Kassidi, Lahanou, Polemika, Strogilo, Prasso, Skadili and Korakas.
Skantzoura, by itself, is a very interesting destination, but also a very beautiful spot for relaxing and even spending the night, heading towards the south!
On its southwest side, it has two unique naturally formed small bays, whose lovely waters one can enjoy by spending the day!
An abandoned monastery dedicated to the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary is located at the highest point of the island.
The path to the monastery is amazing and the view will be extremely rewarding once at the top.
Liadromitikois the main natural port of the island and is located at the north side of the beginning of the peninsula that ends at Cape Korakas.
Inside the golf, facing west, two additional small bays are formed. One on its north side, at the mouth of which a beautiful beach is formed, and one on its south side where the fishermen of the area usually spend the night.
We can also spend the night here with great security, since both bays provide a very good protection against etesian winds.
The second natural harbor, Haroupia, is located on the south side of the same peninsula and is one of the most beautiful places in the Sporades. It is a narrow bay, more like an inlet, ending in a minuscule but unforgettable sandy beach.
